2013 Georgia Chess

Johnson-Hanson

There has been much talk throughout 2012 about adult chess dying in Georgia. A lot of the chess organizations including 64 Squares CC have been inactive. The Georgia Chess Association given the opportunity to fill the void has decided to maintain its old schedule of maybe 3-4 adult tournaments a year.

Naturally this position has hurt the Georgia talent pool in general with several strong adult players either retiring or leaving the state altogether.

We will continue to support the other organizations out there and do our best not to conflict with their scheduled events. Hopefully, everyone is familiar with the North Georgia Chess Club, Ironman Chess, Chess Mess, American Chess Promotions etc.

We would like to begin with a $600 $375 guaranteed chess tournament to be held on January 19th.
